Hotshot young filmmaker George Lewis sets about reconstructing the unfinished final masterpiece of a maverick director murdered back in 1960. As George struggles with an impossible mountain of footage, he and his producer Emily investigate the dark mystery surrounding the director’s murder. A tale of obsession, old lies and history repeating itself.

Hattie’s husband Jamie is missing, presumed dead; he disappeared while shooting a photographic project in the Scottish Highlands. One year later his camera is found and Hattie travels north to investigate the clues hidden in his last photographs. In the bleakly beautiful landscape she gets entangled in a web of lies, uncomfortable truths and ancient folklore.

Nitrate is a pseudo-documentary thriller by Guy Ducker & Gavin Boyter.  The film is being developed with Creative Europe development fund.
